Daddy Dates & Huck's Harbor

The week after Steve's defense/grad party, he did us all the awesome favor of taking off a day and 1/2. He spent Thursday afternoon taking the girls out on individual dates (first he and Greta went to IRP for lunch, shared a steak and some fried brie -- yum!, then brought me home the most beautiful orange roses; he and Grace hung out at the mall and got coffee for Steve and mint chocolate gelato for Grace from Capanna), then Friday we decided to spend the day at the waterpark. Although the kiddos would probably have been happy staying home and playing in the sprinkler, I wouldn't have been able to pull myself away from the laundry, dishes, etc. and there was rain in the forecast for the IA City area (meaning no pool or splash pad) so off we went to Huck's Harbor in Burlington!
The Lazy River was a huge hit! Elias even napped laying with me in the tube. We just had to work at staying out from under the waterfall each time we floated past and he just slept away! It was incredibly relaxing to have nothing to do but lay in an inner tube surrounded by your loving husband and sweet children!
As was the indoor play area, which was great for me b/c I didn't have to worry about my little towhead getting sunburned!

They have tons of kiddie water slides and a whole huge playground surrounded by water.

I think Zeke's first memory might just be of this huge dump bucket that spilled out every 5 minutes or so. He and the dump bucket have kind of a love/hate relationship. At first he was terrified, but I think he grew to secretly love it by the end. 2 weeks later he still walks around saying, "Uh, oh . . . bucket." He never got brave enough to stand right underneath it like his sisters did, though. . .
